Meghan Maes
Owner | Attorney | Mediator
For over a decade, I have advocated for individuals and families in family law matters. As an award-winning attorney, I use my experience to provide clients with clear options so they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
I began my legal career at Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS) in Mankato, where I served low-income individuals in diverse and underserved communities, advocating for the rights of families within the civil court system. I later served as the Lead Family Law Attorney, representing clients across 17 counties in southwestern Minnesota. That experience shaped my commitment to access to justice and providing strong, practical advocacy.
In addition to litigation, I am a Qualified Neutral and provide mediation services to families seeking to resolve disputes outside of the courtroom. Many cases can be successfully resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). When parties want to maintain control over their own decision-making, I guide them through mediation—a voluntary and confidential process focused on identifying goals, removing barriers, and creating workable solutions through thoughtful and creative problem-solving.

My husband and I live in North Mankato, where we are raising our five children, who range from first grade to high school. Outside of my law practice, I enjoy being near the water, traveling, volunteering, listening to music, serving as the PTA President at Dakota Meadows Middle School, and spending time with my family.
